Release in theaters of the first installment of the two-part historical film event based on Charles De Gaulle's life during WWII is still a few months off in June, but there is an exciting rumor about a splashy premiere prior to that. According to ScreenDaily, the film may be making its world premiere at the renowned Cannes Film Festival, which runs from May 12-23.
The two-part biopic of Charles De Gaulle, now aptly titled De Gaulle, has completed filming. Tom will be starring as British Foreign Secretary Anthony Eden, along with Simon Russell Beale, who will be playing Winston Churchill, and Simon Abkarian, who plays De Gaulle. The French language film is being directed by Antonin Baudry. Cineuropa reports that the project has been pre-sold to Canal+ and Disney+, but no release date was given.
A promotional still from The Continuing and Lamentable Saga of the Suicide Brothers was posted, giving us a great look at Tom playing Barath. Rupert Friend plays his brother Bourbon, and Keira Knightley co-stars as their Fairy Godmother.
Ben Hilton, Dead Cat's producer, was kind enough to tweet a picture of Tom hard at work preparing for a scene.
Tom makes an even briefer, but no less heart stopping, appearance in this trailer for the comedy. Follow this link and look for a quick shot of him when the voice-over says "upgrade" at around :39.
Clips have been uploaded from the 2006 movie L'Entente Cordiale, in which Tom plays Jennifer Saunders' assistant (at least I think so - I don't speak French!). He makes two brief, but heart stopping, appearances - one towards the beginning and one closer to half way. They are quick, but well worth the effort.
